You’re going through enough and I told you I’d be a better friend Jules. He sent a letter. Wait he’s back?

Being friends is not just about giving but also about receiving. So just let me help you, okay? You don’t need to go through this alone.

A letter? Oh my god he’s such a fucking idiot. Yeah, he got home today. He managed to get away for a few days to come visit dad. He didn’t tell any of us he was coming home.

Yeah Jules. It fucking sucks.

I don’t know what to do. Everything seemed fine and I know I shouldn’t be dragging my problems to you. It’s just your fucking brothers fault!

You can always drag your problems to me. That’s what friends are for. Wait, did Luke say something to you or Spencer? I mean, he only just came home today, how did he do that?

Spencer broke up with me. He kicked me out of the apartment.

I think it’s over.

What? That’s not, Em, I mean no! I just, oh my god.

Listen, if you ever need to talk to me, you know I’m always here for you. I mean, I probably can’t help cheer you up, but I’m always here to listen.

Sugar Pie Honey Bunch | Avery & Julie

wonderfulworldofavery:

Avery walked into the kitchen, his fingers intertwined with Julie’s as he gently dragged her behind him. His girlfriend seemed less than cheerful lately, her natural exuberance around Avery being dragged down by thoughts of her father and hospitals. Avery wanted to take all of that off of her mind, though. Before Avery finished his shift at the Upper Crust, he had talked to his father about borrowing a few ingredients so he could bake Julie’s favorite dessert with her, to make her feel better. Mr. Cooper reluctantly agreed, his mood softening when Max arrived to take over the register. Avery gathered everything he needed and piled it into his car, quickly stuffing the ingredients away before Julie came over.

He flashed Julie a smile before opening the fridge, grabbing the butter and eggs. Avery set them on the counter before going over to the cabinet and searching for the cinnamon and nutmeg he needed. A bowl of Golden Delicious apples sat in the middle of the counter, waiting to be sliced up for the pie. Avery loved baking, though he knew his pies would never be as good as his father’s. He just liked getting messy in the kitchen and experimenting with different flavors and textures.

“Ready, sugar?” He asked Julie, laughing before finding the food processor his dad always used when baking at home. Avery dug around in drawers for different measuring cups and bowls, laying everything on the table before he got started. Jars of flour, sugar, and brown sugar sat on a shelf, metal scoopers dangling on a hook next to them. He grabbed the jars, placing them next to the other ingredients. Avery looked everything over, mentally checking off that he had each ingredient he needed. Avery knew his father’s secret recipe for apple pie by heart, learning it over the years from both watching him make it and helping out himself.

He smiled at Julie, giving her a small nod.

Julie had only reluctantly agreed to come over to Avery’s house. After hearing the news about her dad’s condition, Julie had become withdrawn from the outside world. She had been despondent with customers, despite her dedication to the shop and to trying to help her dad out. Julie had been impatient with them too, which was especially unusual for her. She was usually the best one in the shop to work with customers, other than Jack and her dad. But without her dad around anymore to give Julie a little extra advice, her work days had just seemed to drag on, making everything seem more annoying than usual. Everyday, after work, Julie either simply returned home and sat in her room, going through old reports she had done on her dad being her hero, or she went straight to the hospital to visit Mr. Simmons. She usually sat with him, reading him a book that he had read to her when she was little. Seeing him was the only part of the day that could draw any emotion from Julie’s otherwise passive face. When Mr. Simmons smiled, that was the only time Julie would. If Mr. Simmons cracked a lame joke, Julie would laugh, even if she didn’t sound as sincere as usual.

Julie had even been avoiding spending time with Emily and Avery. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to avoid them, she just never felt she was good company anymore. She hated the idea that she would drag her friends moods down, and she rather be alone anyway. It was just easier that way. When she was alone, Julie could just sit and think and remember all of the memories she had with her dad. Julie just wanted to be able to focus them all in her mind, so that when the real thing was gone, she could still have those memories to comfort her.

But Avery had finally convinced Julie to come over to his place. She hadn’t been sure what Avery had meant by baking with him. She had never been a good hand at baking, much to her her mother’s disappointment. Julie was glad to be with Avery, though, and she liked the way his fingers felt, tangled in hers. It was nice to be out of her room, at least for a moment. Still, the heavy feeling of sorrow weighed down on Julie, and she couldn’t find a smile to meet his.

Her hand felt cold when Avery let it go, but she stood still and quiet, watching him pull out ingredients from the fridge. She slowly recognized the item they were going to be making and that managed to at least stand a little straighter, and meet Avery’s gaze. While Julie loved her mother’s cooking, Avery’s apple pie had always tasted better to Julie. To think that he had gathered all of this, just because it was her favorite, was enough for Julie to mentally push herself away from her dad. Avery was doing this for her, the least she could do was try to look happy. When Avery nodded and smiled at her, Julie nodded too, the corners of her lips twitching as she tried, and failed, to smile.

Will you two please just stop fighting?

wonderfulworldofavery:

I know it’s not, baby, I know, but I can’t stop. He’s got me fueled up. Julie, I’m…I’m thinking about it. You know what I’m thinking about and I can’t stop. It’s getting to that point right now. Julie, please. Please just help.

Avery, Ave, dearest, please. Please just calm down. Look, I’ll come pick you up. We’ll go drive around somewhere, I dunno, just stay calm. Don’t… Just don’t do anything until I get there, okay?

I don’t want to upset you, Jules. He just…God, he just brings out the fucking raging part of me that I can’t control. I can’t. I try to, but I just..I can’t.

This whole fight isn’t even worth it, Avery. Just, just calm down, okay? Please, I don’t want to see you two fighting. You and Seth are two of my best friends and I can’t stand the thought of you guys fighting.
